Everything about using KiddoCue: how things work, and who can see what.
🚀 Getting started
🎬 How-to videos
Short videos of what KiddoCue can do. In the app they’re under ☰ → ❓ Help → 🎬 How-to videos, each with a “Try it” button. You can also watch them all on our YouTube channel.
Create your family
- Open KiddoCue and tap Sign up.
- Add your first name, your email and a password. That’s it: you log in with your email.
- Look around, then add your kids’ first names when you’re ready (👪 Family & people → + Add a child), and change your family name there too.
Then follow the Get set up checklist on Today: it walks you through the next steps.
Add your partner (the other parent)
- Go to 👪 Family & people → + Add a parent → Send to partner and text them the link.
- They tap it, add their name, email and a password.
You both see the same kids, posts, requests and chats. Each of you gets your own notifications. The link works once, for 48 hours.
Connect with other families
- Invite link: 👪 Family & people → Send invite link. When they tap it and sign up (or log in), you’re connected automatically.
- Code: type their 6-letter code under 👪 Family & people → Enter their code.
- From a class: tap 🤝 Connect on the class list. They accept from ❗ Needs attention on Today (or at the top of 👪 Family & people).
When a family joins from your link you get a notification and a 🎉 The Smiths joined! card at the top of 👪 Family & people for a week, with 👋 Say hi. The family who joined sees “You’re connected with…” the same way.
Only families you’re connected with see your kids and posts. You can remove a connection anytime with ✕ in 👪 Family & people.
📘 Invite on Facebook (👪 Family & people → Other families) copies a ready-made post with your invite link and opens Facebook: paste it and post. Friends who join through your link are connected with you automatically.
Add KiddoCue to your Home Screen
iPhone / iPad: open the site in Safari → tap Share → Add to Home Screen → Add. Then open KiddoCue from your Home Screen and log in again (iPhone keeps it separate from Safari).
Android: tap Install when Chrome offers it, or the ⋮ menu → Add to Today screen.
On iPhone this is needed for notifications.
Turn on notifications
Tap Turn on in the Home checklist, or ⚙️ Settings → Notifications, and allow them when your phone asks. Tap Send a test to check. Each phone is turned on separately.
✋ How to…
✏️ Choose what’s on your Today screen (weather, Waiting on me, medicine…)
- ☀️ 3-day weather: today, tomorrow and the next day, with the chance of rain. It uses your phone’s rough location if you tap Turn on, or a zip code you type in (tap 📍 on the weather card).
- ⏳ Waiting on me: everything that needs an answer from you: party RSVPs, ride and pickup asks, families who want to connect, families waiting to join your group, and unread messages. Tap one to answer it.
Choose what’s on your Today screen: tap ✏️ Customize Home at the bottom of Home (or ⚙️ Settings → 🏠 Your Home screen) and check off what you want: weather, Today’s Plan, Homework & Practice, the quick buttons, Waiting on me, medicine and the search bar. It only changes your own Home screen. Anything that needs you, like a medicine dose or an RSVP, always shows.
🔎 Search for anything
Tap 🔎 at the top of any page and type a word, like “dentist”, “Ella”, “pizza” or “chores”. You’ll see your own things (calendar, families, groups, messages, chores, to-dos), the part of the app that does it, and help answers. Tap one to go straight there. Search only finds what you can already see.
✉️ Write a note to school (absent, leaving early, pickup)
☰ → 🏫 School → ✉️ Note to school. Pick your child and the reason: Absent, Leaving early, Someone else picking up, Going home a different way, Coming in late, or Write my own. Fill in the day, then change any words you like. KiddoCue remembers the teacher’s name for each child.
Tap 🖨️ Print and sign it for the backpack folder, or ✉️ Email it to the teacher. In the iPhone app, Print opens the share menu: tap Print there.
📸 Family moments: the best part of each day, and a grandparents’ link
☰ → 📸 Family moments. Pick who it’s about, write the best part of the day, and add a photo if you like. Only your family sees it. Each evening (7:30 PM to start; change it under 🌙 Evening reminder) you get one nudge for the kids nobody wrote about yet. Kids can answer in 🧒 kid mode with 📸 Best part of my day.
📖 Memory Lane and 📷 Camera (everyone’s camera roll) open from inside Family moments too.
Home shows today’s moments and 🗓️ On this day: what you wrote a month ago and a year ago.
👵 Grandparents’ window: tap Make a grandparents’ link and send it. They don’t need the app or an account. The first time, they type your 4-number family code (shown under the link; tap Change to pick your own), so a forwarded link alone shows nothing. They see only the moments you mark 👵 and, if you turn it on, the kids’ games and events for the next two weeks. New link makes a new link and code and stops the old ones working; Turn off removes it.
👆 A shared kids’ iPad: they tap their name and they’re in
On the iPad your kids share, sign in, go to 👪 Family & people → 📱 Kids’ own iPads & phones and tap 👆 Make THIS device the kids’ iPad. You’re signed out there, and the iPad shows Who’s using KiddoCue? with your kids’ names.
- Your child taps their name and they’re in, as themselves only. No code. One child at a time.
- When they finish, they tap 👋 All done, and the next child taps their name.
- Want to say yes first? Tick 🔔 Ask me on my phone before a child gets in under the iPad’s name. Then you get a notification (it’s on ⏳ Waiting on me too): tap Yes or Not now. No answer in 10 minutes and the ask times out. Shared iPads set up before this keep asking until you untick it.
- Remove the shared iPad any time from the same Family screen.
📋 My Day: chores and a checklist for each child
👪 Family & people → your child → Chores. Add things like “Make my bed” or “Feed the dog”, and pick Every day, School days, Certain days or Just today.
In 🧒 kid mode (or on their own iPad), your child taps 📋 My Day. They see today’s calendar (just their things and family things) and their list, and tap each one to check it off. They can add their own for today too. When the whole list is done, you get a ✅.
Change the order anytime: press ⋮⋮ and drag a chore up or down (in Chores, or on your child’s My Day).
Practice this week’s spelling words
☰ → 📚 Learning → your child → 🔤 Spelling words (it’s in 📝 Homework Checker too). Tap 📷 Snap the list (a photo of the handout, planner or class email) or ✏️ Type them, check the words, then Save. 🧠 Practice → Spelling uses those words all week (it shows ⭐ This week’s words). On Practice and Challenge, your child hears each word and types it (autocorrect is off); Warm-Up is picking the right spelling.
Tap 📣 Share with your child’s class so other parents get the same words without loading them. A child’s own list always comes first.
🎲 Games: the computer, two phones, one game at a time
- 🤖 KiddoCue Bot: in kid mode → 🎲 Games → New game, pick the Bot for tic-tac-toe, connect four, checkers or ♟️ chess. It plays right back and can be beaten.
- Each kid on their own phone: each phone only plays its own kid’s turns and shows “Jack’s turn…” while it waits. Sharing one phone? Tap 👉 Pass the phone.
- One game at a time: finish or end a game to start a new one. Tapping New game while one is going opens it.
Check things off Today’s Plan
On Home, tap the circle next to a line in Today’s Plan to cross it off. You see what you started the day with and what’s left. Everyone in your household sees the same ticks, and it starts fresh each morning. Medicine ticks itself when every dose is given.
Don’t want it? ⚙️ Settings → Today’s Plan → uncheck Check things off as we go.
Messages and group chats
Messages tab → + New message. Pick one family, or several for a group chat (you can name it, e.g. “Soccer team ⚽”). Tap ⋯ in a chat to add families, rename, 🔕 mute, or leave. You can message families you’re connected with or in a class with. The grown-ups in each family see the chat.
Birthday, holiday and party invites
- ☰ → 🎉 Invites & plans (or the card at the top of 📅 Calendar) → 🎂 New invite.
- Pick the type, title, date and time, and place. Tick families, and untick any kids who aren’t invited. Invite all of a class ticks everyone in it.
Closed it by accident? A new invite saves itself as a draft while you type. Home shows 📝 Finish your invite to pick up where you left off (a cover photo needs adding again). Editing an invite you already sent asks before closing without saving.
Guests answer Going / Maybe / Can’t, how many kids, and a note. You see a headcount, can ⏰ remind people who haven’t answered, edit, invite more, or cancel. Each invite has its own group chat and photos, and everyone going gets a reminder the day before.
- 🎨 Design: pick one of 14 designs (dinosaurs, unicorns, space, pool party…) and add a 🖼️ cover photo.
- 🧺 What to bring (cookouts & potlucks): pick 🍔 Cookout / potluck (or tick 🧺 Let people sign up to bring things on any invite) and list what you need, like “Chips, Drinks, Sides, Dessert”. Guests tap I’ll bring it or add their own (“Watermelon”), from the app or the party link with no app needed. Everyone sees what’s covered, and you get a note each time someone signs up. Tap Undo to change your mind; the host can take anything off. After they RSVP from the link, guests see a Join KiddoCue card; if they join, their RSVP, allergy note and what they’re bringing come with them.
- ✨ RSVP date, gifts & address: set an RSVP by date (families who haven’t answered get a nudge two days before), a gift note like “No gifts please 💛” or a book swap, and a wish list link. Guests who RSVP from the party link see the address after they answer; untick the box to show it only to KiddoCue families.
- 💬 Comments: everyone invited can post (“Can’t wait! 🎉”). The host can delete any comment.
- 📣 Message guests: a note to everyone coming (“Parking is behind the building!”). Guests from the link who asked for updates get it by email. Changing the time or place tells everyone too.
- 👥 Co-hosts: planning a joint party? Add up to 3 families. They see the RSVPs and can edit and message guests. Only you can cancel.
- 🖨️ Guest list: everyone’s answer, kids, grown-ups, notes and allergies, ready to print or check at the door.
📸 The party’s group photo
Every party gets a big group photo. Halfway through, the host gets a reminder: tap 📸 Take the group photo on the invite and snap everyone together. It goes at the top of the invite, and every family who came (plus link guests who asked for updates) is told it’s in. Already took it? Tap any photo on the invite and pick Make it the group photo.
Birthdays
Add a kid’s birthday in 👪 Family & people → Edit (month and day; the year is optional and shows their age), and yours in Settings. Birthdays, yours and your connected families’ kids’, are on 📅 Calendar. To plan your kid’s party, tap 🎉 Plan a party in ☰. You get a morning reminder on friends’ kids’ birthdays and 3 weeks before your own kid’s (turn it off in Settings).
Classes and groups
- 👪 Family & people → 🏫 Classes & groups → + Start a group (class, daycare, sports team, band & music, scouts, club, faith group, neighborhood…).
- For a 🏅 Team, pick the sport (⚾ baseball, 🏀 basketball, 🏈 football, 🏒 hockey, 🩰 dance…). It becomes the team’s icon everywhere. The group’s admin can change it later in the group’s Admin section.
- Right after you start it, KiddoCue asks you to share it: 📣 Share the link (pick where: 💬 Text, 📘 Facebook, 💭 Messenger, 📸 Instagram, 💼 LinkedIn, ✉️ Email, 📋 Copy, or 📤 More apps on your phone. Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram don’t let apps fill in a post, so KiddoCue copies the message for you to paste.) or 🔳 Print a QR code flyer. You can do this anytime later with 📨 Invite families in the group. Each family joins and picks which of their kids are in it.
- ➕ Add families you know: families already on KiddoCue that you’re connected with? Open the group → 📨 Invite families → ➕ Add a family you know, tick them and tap Send. They get “Sam added you to Ms. Rivera’s class”; one tap opens it, they pick their kids and they’re in, with no waiting to be let in (even if the group asks new families to wait). Not connected yet? Send them the group link with 📨 Invite families.
- A parent who opens the link and signs up goes straight to the class. There they can tap 🤝 Connect with everyone to ask all the families at once (each one says yes or no), or 🤝 Connect on just the families they know. Connected families can send each other party invites and asks for help.
- Letting families in: new classes ask each new family to wait until someone lets them in. The organizer sees Let in / No, and any parent in the class can tap I know them. Until then, they see nothing of the class. The organizer can turn this off under Admin.
From the group you can 🤝 Connect with families, post 🙋 We’re free to the whole class, 🎂 Invite everyone, and use the class 💬 group chat. Under ⚙️ Group settings you choose whether to share your phone number and kids’ birthdays with it. The group organizer (whoever started it) can rename it, change the link, or remove a family.
💌 After the party: photos and thank-yous
When your party ends, Home shows 🎈 … is over! with 📷 Add photos and 💌 Say thank you. Photos go to everyone invited. The thank-you (a note that’s already written for you, which you can change) goes to the families who said they were coming, as a notification and on the invite. You can edit it later without sending another notification.
🧭 Get directions to a party or hangout
Wherever there’s an address (party invites, a hangout’s “Where”, and a pickup you’ve taken), tap 🧭 Get directions and pick Apple Maps, Google Maps or Waze. On iPhone, Apple Maps is first; on Android, Google Maps is.
Hosting? Put the venue’s name (like JumpZone) in Place name and the street address in Address, so maps find the right spot.
📍 Address suggestions: start typing in any address box and places pop up, like on a GPS. Tap one (or use the arrow keys and Enter) and the address is filled in. Pick a business like JumpZone and its name goes into Place name too. Don’t see it? Just keep typing: anything you write is fine.
🎂 Invite the whole class, even families not on KiddoCue
- Open your class → 🎂 Invite everyone. Families already on KiddoCue are ticked. Leave 📨 Also make a party link on.
- After you send it, tap 📨 Share the party link and paste it in the class group text or email.
- Families not on KiddoCue open the link and see the party (not the address). They can RSVP & join KiddoCue in about 30 seconds: they’re on your guest list, see the address, get reminders, and ask to join the class. Or they can RSVP without an account, by name.
Have the class email list? On your invite, tap ✉️ Email the invite and paste the addresses. Each parent gets the invite with an RSVP button. (This needs the site’s email service turned on. We only use the addresses to send the invite once, and don’t keep them.)
Handing out paper? 🔳 QR code on the invite, or 📨 Invite families → 🔳 QR code / flyer on the class, shows a code parents scan with their phone’s camera. Tap 🖨️ Print a flyer for the backpack folder.
Every RSVP says how many kids are coming and how many grown-ups are staying (or “just dropping off”), so you can plan food and space. You see everyone’s answers on the invite, including RSVPs from the link. Change your mind? Link off stops the link, and 📨 Party link makes a new one.
Kid avatars, friends and allergies
👪 Family & people → Edit next to a kid:
- Avatar: pick an emoji and color, or use a photo.
- ⭐ Friends: the kids they love playing with. Their posts show “⭐ friend”, and you can post to just friends or only get alerts about them.
- 😋 Favorite foods: tap a food once for ❤️ loves it, twice for 🙅 won’t eat it, or type your own (“Grandma’s meatballs”). The family who has your kid for a hangout, drop-off or party sees them, so they know what snack to have; untick Share to keep them to your family. Your kids can pick their own in 🧒 Kid mode: 🍎 Food holds their favorite foods. Favorites show as one-tap adds on the 🛒 grocery list.
- ⚠️ Allergies & medical: quick picks, mild or severe, 💉 EpiPen, and notes. Shared only with the family who has your kid (see who can see what).
Emergency contacts and your phone number
👪 Family & people → 🆘 Emergency contacts: up to two people to call if they can’t reach you. ⚙️ Settings → Your contact info: your phone (shown as Call/Text buttons on hangout and party cards; you can hide it) and email (private: password resets and a link to each new hangout, which you can turn off).
Put KiddoCue on your phone’s calendar
Automatic: ⚙️ Settings → 📅 Put KiddoCue on your phone’s calendar → Add to iPhone / Apple Calendar (or Google, or copy the link for Outlook). Parties you’re going to, help you’ve said yes to and your family’s birthdays show up by themselves, and changes update. Apple checks about hourly; Google can take a few hours.
Your calendar link is private. If you shared it by mistake, tap Reset it.
Weather on Today
⚙️ Settings → ☀️ Weather: type your zip code, or tap 📍 Use my location (your phone asks once; it’s rounded to about 1 km and stays on your phone). Today then shows a 3-day forecast, e.g. “☀️ 75°F · nice for the park” or a rain warning.
📅 Your family calendar
The 📅 Calendar tab at the bottom. Week shows each day; Month shows the whole month with a color for each kind of thing; List shows everything coming up, in order, skipping empty days. Tapping a notification opens the exact thing it’s about, like the game that moved or the ride someone said yes to. Hangouts, parties, rides, activities, half days, birthdays, and anything you add are all there.
Change or remove something: tap it. An after-school activity (like ⚾ Practice) opens so you can edit it or tap 🗑️ Remove.
- + Add anything: the dentist, picture day, “Grandma visiting”, practice. Pick who it’s for (or the whole family, or 👤 Grown-ups only for things like “prep Friday dinner”, which stay off the kids’ My Day and their iPads), all day or a time, once or every week, and a reminder (15 minutes to a day before) that goes to everyone in your household.
- 📋 Got a text or email about it? Tap Paste it here, paste the salon’s or dentist’s message, and tap ✨ Fill it in. The day, time, where and what (💇 haircut, 🦷 dentist, 🩺 doctor…) are filled in for you to check.
- 🔔 Let your partner know: when you add something, they get a notification (“Alex added 💇 Haircut · Tuesday at 3:30 PM”).
- 🚗 Who’s taking them? Pick yourself or your partner when you add something (or when you snap an appointment card). They get “🚗 Sam, you’re taking Liam to 🦷 Dentist · Tuesday at 3:30 PM”, their reminder says so, and the calendar shows 🚗 Sam.
- 📤 Send the details to someone (a babysitter, grandma): open the item and send it by text.
- 🔒 Only your family sees it. No other family can ever open your calendar or see what’s on it.
- On Home, 📅 Today shows what’s on today.
To have it all on your phone’s calendar too, tap 📲 Put this on my phone’s calendar (the same as ⚙️ Settings → 📅). Changes you make in KiddoCue show up there by themselves. Things you add in your phone’s calendar don’t come back into KiddoCue.
🏠🏠 Two homes (co-parenting)
For children who live between two homes. Each parent keeps their own KiddoCue, and you share only your children’s schedule: not your calendar, messages, families, trusted families, asks or address. Linking doesn’t connect your two families.
- It’s off until you need it: on the Family tab, under Kids, tap 🏠🏠 Children split time between two homes? (it turns on by itself if the other parent sends you a link). Then 🏠🏠 Two homes → + Link a child with their other home. Tick the child, or several children who go back and forth together on the same schedule (a child on a different schedule gets their own link). Name your home (“Dad’s house”), and add the schedule if you like.
- Tap 📨 Send the link and text it to the other parent. They open it with their own KiddoCue (free), pick which of their children each one is (or add them), name their home, and tap Share the schedule. The link works once, for 7 days.
- Schedules: every other week, 2-2-3, weekends at the other home, every other weekend, or pick the days. Set the handoff time and place (“School pickup”). A change only starts once the other home taps OK.
- You both see whose day it is (a two-week strip), and your Calendar shows when your child is at the other home. Both homes get a reminder the evening before each handoff.
- 🔁 Ask for a day: “Can Ella stay with me Saturday?” The other home taps Yes or Sorry, no. A yes goes on both calendars.
- Unlink any time. The other home is told, and the schedule stops being shared. Everything else stays the same.
🙋 Just me (when you two don’t talk): when you link a child, pick 🙋 Just me instead of sharing, or tap 🙋 Just me instead on a link the other parent never opened. You keep the schedule yourself: it changes right away, ✏️ Change a day covers holidays and trades you made by text, and the other parent is never contacted or told anything. Only you see the name you give the other home.
👪 What families see: on either kind of schedule, tap 👪 What families see to let your connected families see which days your children are at the other home (“🏠 Ella is at their other home Fri & Sat”), with an optional line like “To play those days: text her dad, Mike.” It shows on your family in their list. It’s off until you turn it on, and they never see the other home’s name or your schedule details.
🎒 ReadyCheck (everything to bring, wear, buy, sign and pay)
Not just on the calendar. Handled. When you forward a school or team email (📥 Email to calendar), paste one, or snap a flyer (📷 Snap it), KiddoCue also finds what your family has to do to be ready: wear pajamas Monday, buy colored hairspray by Tuesday, sign the field trip form, send $5, and pickup changes like an early dismissal.
- On the check-and-add screen, each thing has a due date and who has it: you, the other parent, one of your kids, or “🙋 Nobody yet”. A kid’s things go on their 📋 My Day for that day, so they see “👕 Wear pajamas to school” on their iPad.
- ☰ → ✅ Tasks → 🎒 ReadyCheck shows the whole list. Tap ✋ I’ve got it to take something (the other parent is told), change who has it, or tick it when it’s done. A kid ticking it on My Day counts too.
- Things due today, or late, show on Today’s Plan and in your ☀️ morning summary until they’re done. The evening before, if something is still nobody’s, everyone in your household gets one “⚠️ Tomorrow: 2 things nobody has yet”.
- An early dismissal or half day becomes “🚗 Pick up at 12:30”. If neither of you can, tap 🤝 Ask a trusted family.
📱 Home as app icons and folders
At the top of Home, tap 📱 App icons to see your tools in folders, like the kids’ screen: 🏡 Everyday, 📅 Calendar & School, 🧒 Kids, 👋 Friends & Plans and ⚙️ Settings & More, with Today’s Plan and anything waiting on you still on top. Prefer every icon out in the open? Tap ▦ All apps (or 📁 Folders to fold them back up). Tap 📰 Cards to go back. Each grown-up picks on their own phone.
📁 Your own folders: in App icons, tap 📁 + New folder, name it, pick an emoji and check the apps to put in it. Tap a folder to open it, and ✏️ Edit folder to rename it, change its apps or delete it (the apps go back on Today).
🎓 Show me how (step-by-step tours)
☰ → ❓ Help → 🎓 Show me how (❓ Help is also where you’ll find ✨ Ask Cue, these Help articles and 💡 Suggestion box), then pick one: add to the calendar, check homework, find the learning tools, kid mode, screen time, or the Game Room. Each step lights up the button to tap. Handy for walking a friend through it too.
⏳ Screen Time (daily limit and allowed hours)
🧒 Kids tab → ⚙️ Settings for your child → ⏳ Screen time (or search for it), then turn it on for each child. Change any of it, any time.
- Daily limit: how long they can use KiddoCue each day (or no limit). School days and weekends can be different.
- Allowed hours: e.g. 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Outside those hours they see a “see you tomorrow” screen.
- Time counts while kid mode or their own iPad or phone has KiddoCue open on screen. They see how much is left, and get a heads-up at 5 minutes.
- Today: tap ➕ 15 min, ➕ 30 min, ➖ 15 min or ↺ Start over. It updates on their screen within 30 seconds.
- In kid mode on your phone, tap 🔒 Grown-ups and type your 4-digit grown-up code to leave the lock screen.
🙋 Fun apps ask you first (yes for a while, or after reading)
🎮 Game Room, 📷 Camera and 💬 Messages show a 🙋 on your child’s screen. Learning apps (📚 Learning, 🧠 Practice, 🧩 Puzzles, 🦉 Ask Hoot, 📋 My Day) always open.
- Your child taps a fun app, then 🙋 Ask. You get a notification (it’s on ⏳ Waiting on me too).
- ✅ Yes, for 15, 30 or 60 minutes: fun apps open right away for that long.
- 📖 Yes, after reading for 10, 20 or 30 minutes: they see “Read for 20 minutes, about 10 pages” and tap Start reading. The timer keeps going even if KiddoCue is closed, and rings when it’s done (if KiddoCue is open). Then fun apps open, 30 minutes to start, and you get a notification. Reading time with the timer on screen doesn’t count as ⏳ screen time.
- Change how long a page takes (1, 2 or 3 minutes) and the play time after reading in 🧒 Kids → ⚙️ Settings for your child → ⏳ Screen time. Tap ⏹ Stop there to end fun time early, or untick 🙋 Fun apps ask me first to turn it off.
🎮 Game Room (you OK what’s on it)
An app on your child’s home screen. Nothing new gets on it unless you say yes. Set it up in ☰ → 🎮 Games & puzzles → 🎮 Game Room.
- 🎮 Games: 🫧 Squishy Surprise, 🐹 Pop-a-Mole, 🐱 Copy Cat, 🧱 Block Drop, 🍬 Sweet Swap and 🐠 Aquarium are free. 🐍 Snake, 🔢 2048 and 🍓 Fruit Catch: your child asks, and you say yes. 🎲 Family games and 🧩 Puzzles are in the Game Room too, free like always.
- 🫧 Squishy Surprise: squish and stretch a squishy to fill the meter, then crack open a mystery capsule to find a new one. 24 to collect, some rare, sparkly or glowing. No real money involved.
- ⭐ You set the prices: what each game costs. Change them any time.
- Asks: you get a notification. Tap Yes or Not now. You can also give or take away any game, or hide it.
📴 No internet? Kid games still work
If there’s no internet (in the car, on a plane), KiddoCue opens the games that work offline, as long as it’s been opened on that phone or iPad before.
- What works: your child’s single-player games from the 🎮 Game Room (Pop-a-Mole, Copy Cat, Block Drop, Sweet Swap, Aquarium and any they’ve unlocked), plus ♟️ Chess against the 🤖 KiddoCue Bot.
- Scores and screen time save and are sent when you’re back online. ⏳ Screen time limits and hours still apply.
- On your phone, tap 🔒 Grown-ups (and your code, if you picked one before) to switch kids.
- Everything else (messages, the calendar, puzzles, games with your family) needs the internet.
- For now this works in the browser and the home screen app. The App Store app gets it in its next update.
💛 Today’s affirmation and the Affirmation Box
Every day there’s a new positive affirmation, like “Progress, not perfection.” Grown-ups find today’s at the top of ☰ → 💛 Affirmation Box. Kids see a kid one first thing in kid mode or on their own device (“I can do hard things.”), with 🔊 to hear it read aloud.
- Tap 🤍 to keep the ones you love. Find yours in ☰ → 💛 Affirmation Box; kids have a 💛 Kind Words app.
- Everyone gets their own each day, so brothers and sisters usually get different ones.
📷 Camera (photos and videos)
Just like the camera on your phone: PHOTO or VIDEO (up to 30 seconds), the big shutter button, 🔄 to flip to the front camera, and your last shot in the corner.
- Kids: 📷 Camera and 🖼️ Photos are apps on their kid-mode home screen and their own iPad or phone. A child only sees their own photos.
- Grown-ups: ☰ → 📸 Family moments → 📷 Camera (☰ → 📷 Camera if Family moments is switched off) shows everyone’s camera roll (yours and each child’s, with “new” on the kids’ latest) and opens the camera.
- Family only: kids can’t send photos or videos to anyone. Tap one, then 📖 Save to Memory Lane to keep it for good.
- Each camera roll keeps the newest 100 photos and 20 videos. Turn the Camera off for a child in Choose what they see.
📖 Memory Lane (each child’s story)
A keepsake for when they’re older. Kids tab → pick a child → 📖 Memory Lane (or ☰ → 📸 Family moments → 📖 Memory Lane). Each child has their own story, one school year at a time (August to July), with their grade.
- It fills itself from what you already do in KiddoCue: 📸 best-part-of-the-day moments and photos, play dates (who they played with most, and the first time with each new friend), parties, their birthday (“Turned 8!”), and 📚 test grades you add in Study Center.
- Tap ⭐ Add a milestone for the big little things: a first lost tooth, riding without training wheels, a first goal, something funny they said. Add a photo if you have one.
- Tap 💌 Write a letter for later to write to your child for when they turn 13, 16, 18 or 21 (add their birthday with the year), or for a date you pick. It stays sealed until then. You can reread it; nobody else can.
- Pick a different year at the top to look back. Milestones and letters are kept for good.
🏫 School Center and 📚 Study guides
Everything about your child’s school in one place. Kids tab → School overview (or ☰ → 🏫 School → 🏫 School Center). Pick a child at the top.
- ☀️ Today: what’s on their calendar today and tomorrow, and school lunch or “pack a lunch” from the 🍎 School menu.
- ✅ To get ready: what ReadyCheck found in school emails (wear, bring, sign, buy).
- 📝 Homework checks from the last two weeks, 🔤 this week’s spelling words, 📅 coming up for the next three weeks, and their classes & teams.
📚 Study guides: ☰ → 📚 Learning → 📚 Study guides (or in School Center), tap + New study guide, then snap the study guide the teacher sent home (or notes, or textbook pages), or type what the test is on. Add the test date. In about a minute KiddoCue makes:
- 📝 Key ideas and 🃏 flashcards at your child’s grade.
- ❓ Quizzes: a wrong answer gets a hint, a second miss shows the answer and why. The ones they miss come back more often.
- 🎯 A practice test: no help until the end, then a score. You get a notification with it.
- With a test date, a little studying goes on their 📋 My Day each day before it (flashcards, a quiz, then a practice test the night before), and the test goes on the calendar.
- You see a ready for the test meter, the questions they keep missing, and the 🔑 answer key. Your child doesn’t see the answer key.
- Your child studies in kid mode or on their own device: 📚 Study for a test. They can snap a study guide themselves on their own device too.
- 👫 Study with classmates: on a study guide, tap Share with their class. The other families in the class can add it for their child.
📥 Email to calendar
☰ → 📥 Import dates → 📥 Email to calendar (or Add event → “Got a school or team email with dates?”). Your family has its own email address. Forward school newsletters, coach and band emails, or appointment confirmations to it, and in about a minute you’ll both get “📥 3 dates found”. Tap it, check the list (fix or untick anything), and tap Add. Nothing goes on the calendar until you do.
- Send it from the email address on your KiddoCue account. Emails from anyone else are ignored, so the address is safe to save in your contacts.
- A PDF or photo attached to the email (a competition schedule, a flyer) is read too.
- Not using email on this phone? Paste the email into the box instead and tap ✨ Find the dates.
- Gmail can forward school emails by itself: Settings → Filters → from your school → Forward to your family’s address.
- New address makes a fresh one if you ever need to; the old one stops working.
☀️ Morning summary
Each morning (6:45 AM to start) you get one notification with what’s on today: the calendar and who’s driving, medicine, and a heads-up when someone needs a packed lunch. Nothing on today? No message. It’s part of ✨ Cue Ahead: turn it on or off and change the time in ⚙️ Settings → 🌙 Quiet hours & what you hear about → ☀️ Morning summary (tap 👀 See today’s for a preview). Each parent has their own setting.
📚 Learning: every learning tool in one place
☰ → 📚 Learning (pick your child at the top), or 👧 Kids tab → your child → 📚 Learning. Both show the same tools for that child. Your child finds theirs in 📚 Learning on their kid screen (🦉 Ask Hoot is also on top there). Tools your family has switched off, or that aren’t out for you yet, don’t show. Here’s what each one does:
- 📸 Homework Checker: snap a photo of finished homework. It shows what’s right and what to recheck, never the answers to your child.
- ✏️ Work through homework: snap homework that isn’t done yet, and your child works through it one problem at a time in kid mode.
- 🧠 Practice: short skill drills (math, spelling, reading and more) at your child’s grade. In kid mode it also has this week’s spelling words and the 🎬 Watch a lesson button.
- 🎬 Watch & Practice: short video lessons, then a few questions to try.
- 📚 Study guides: flashcards and quizzes for an upcoming test.
- 🔤 Spelling words: this week’s list, which 🧠 Practice → Spelling uses all week.
- 🦉 Hoot, your homework helper: an AI helper for schoolwork. Your child asks a question and Hoot gives hints and guiding questions instead of the answer, sticks to schoolwork, and lets you read every chat.
- 🌱 Life Skills: short “what would you do?” stories about feelings and getting along. You turn on the topics.
🌱 Life Skills (feelings and getting along)
☰ → 📚 Learning → your child → 🌱 Life Skills, and tick the topics to turn on. Your child finds them in kid mode → 📚 Learning → 🌱 Life Skills: short “what would you do?” scenarios about the things school skips. Every choice shows what would happen next; a choice that isn’t the best gets a hint and another try.
You see what they picked, with a question to talk it over. It’s for 1st to 5th grade for now, so set their grade on their profile.
🦉 Hoot, your homework helper
☰ → 📚 Learning → 🦉 Hoot, your homework helper (or 👧 Kids tab → 📚 Learning → Hoot). In kid mode or on their own device, your child taps 🦉 Ask Hoot.
- Hoot is an AI tutor (Anthropic’s Claude) playing a friendly owl teacher. It asks one guiding question or gives one hint at a time, and only walks through a solution after your child has really tried.
- It only talks about schoolwork and never asks for personal details. If your child says something a grown-up should know, Hoot answers kindly and you get a heads-up.
- You can read every chat. Turn it on or off per child in 👧 Kids → ⚙️ Settings for your child → Choose visible apps.
🎬 Watch & Practice (video lessons)
☰ → 📚 Learning → 🎬 Watch & Practice (or 👧 Kids tab → 📚 Learning), or in kid mode: 📚 Learning → 🧠 Practice → 🎬 Watch a lesson. Your child watches a short lesson, then tries a few questions on it. It also plays on the family TV.
✏️ Work through homework (one problem at a time)
Snap a photo of homework that isn’t done yet, and KiddoCue turns it into an on-screen worksheet. In kid mode (or on their own iPad), your child taps 📚 Learning → ✏️ Work through homework → 📸 Snap my homework. You can snap it for them too: ☰ → 📚 Learning → ✏️ Work through homework → ✏️ Snap homework for …
- They see one problem at a time, type their answer (or tap a choice), and tap ✓ Check. KiddoCue tells them right away if it’s right. It never shows the answer.
- Not quite? 🦉 Hoot gives a hint, then a bigger hint. After three tries they can tap 🙋 Ask a grown-up (you get “Ella needs help with #4”) or 🦉 Ask Hoot.
- Questions with more than one right answer (write a sentence, explain, draw) aren’t checked: they write it on the paper or in the box.
- At the end they see all their checked answers to copy onto the paper ✏️, and you get a note with how it went.
- You see the answer key, how many tries each one took and what they tried, under ✏️ Homework to do in KiddoCue in Homework Checker. The photo isn’t saved.
- Set their grade on their profile so the hints fit their level. Very good at math, spelling and fill-in-the-blank; a blurry photo can be misread, so snap one page, straight on, in good light.
📸 Homework Checker
☰ → 📚 Learning → 📝 Homework Checker (or 👧 Kids tab → 📚 Learning → Homework Checker, or 📝 Homework on Today). Pick your child, then tap 📸 Check their homework and take a clear photo of one page, straight on.
- Set their grade on their profile (👪 Family & people → tap your child → 🎒 Grade) so the checking fits their level.
- In about 30 seconds you’ll see every problem: ✅ right, ❌ wrong, ⬜ left blank, or 🤔 couldn’t tell (messy handwriting, or a question that can’t be checked from the page). You see the right answer, why it’s wrong, and a hint you could give.
- Wrong and blank ones are ticked Recheck. Untick any you don’t want them to redo, tick a 🤔 one if you do, or tap It’s actually right.
- Tap ➕ Add another page for a second page, add a note (“Show your work!”), then 📨 Send the recheck list.
- Your child sees 📝 Homework to recheck in kid mode (or on their own iPad): just the problem numbers and the problems, never the answers. They tap I rechecked it on each one, and you get a 🎉 when they’re all done.
- Your child can check it themselves: on their own phone or iPad (or in kid mode) they tap 📸 Check my homework at the top. They see right away which problems to look at again (just the numbers and problems, never the answers). If they’re stuck, they tap 🙋 Help and you get “Ella needs help with #2”. You get the full check with the answers, and a 🎉 when they’ve fixed them all.
- 🧠 Practice problems like these: after every check, KiddoCue writes a short set of new problems on the same skills, mostly the ones your child missed (new numbers and words, never the same problems). Tap 👀 See them on the check, or 🧠 Practice now to hand the phone over. Your child also finds them at the top of 🧠 Practice (📝 Like your homework) once you’ve sent the recheck list, or right away if they checked it themselves. A wrong try gets a 💡 hint, not the answer.
- It’s very good at math, spelling and fill-in-the-blank. It can misread messy handwriting, which is why you look it over before your child sees anything.
🧠 Practice (math, spelling, reading and more)
On your child’s own iPad or phone, or in kid mode, they tap 🧠 Practice and pick a subject. Each set is 10 quick questions at their grade (set it on their profile: 👪 Family & people → tap your child → 🎒 Grade).
- ➕ Math (every grade: counting in Pre-K up to algebra in high school) and 🔤 Spelling (with 🔊 to hear the word): fresh questions every time.
- 📖 Reading (a short story with questions), 🔬 Science and 🌎 Social studies (from 1st grade): a new set for each grade every day.
- A wrong answer gets “Try again!”. After a second miss, it shows the right answer and why, so they learn it.
- You see what they practiced and their scores in 📸 Homework Checker, and you get a 🌟 when they get a perfect set.
🌱 📘 🚀 Practice levels, stars, badges and rewards
- Three levels: 🌱 Warm-Up (a grade below: confidence builders), 📘 Practice (their grade) and 🚀 Challenge (a grade above: stretch questions).
- ⭐ Stars for every first-try right answer, a 🔥 streak for practicing on days in a row, and a 🏅 badge for a Challenge with 7 or more right. You get a notification for each badge.
- 🎁 Earned minutes (off until you turn them on): ☰ → 📚 Learning → 📝 Homework Checker → pick your child → 🎁 Practice rewards. Pick how many minutes a Challenge earns (a Practice set earns half; up to 60 minutes saved).
- 💬 Optional: messages need earned chat time. Your child taps “Use 10 min for chat time” in 🧠 Practice.
📊 How much they practiced, and time on homework
☰ → 📚 Learning → pick your child → 📝 Homework Checker. 📊 Progress shows Today or This week (since Sunday):
- 📝 Homework time, from the ⏱️ Homework timer: on your child’s device or in kid mode, they tap ▶️ Start homework when they begin and ✅ I’m done when they finish. A timer left running stops counting after 3 hours.
- 🧠 Practice for each subject: how many sets, how many right on the first try, and how long. Time counts between answers (at most 3 minutes each), so a set left open doesn’t add up.
🛡️ Running a troop, team or club (leaders)
Whoever starts a group is its organizer. A new group starts simple: invite families, send an announcement, and + Add something (a meeting, to-do, sign-up, day off or photos). Each kind gets its own section on the group once there’s one. The rest is under ⚙️ Group settings → 🛡️ Organizer tools:
- Co-leaders: add a co-leader (a co-leader, team manager or “cookie mom”). Leaders can post announcements, let families in, remove a family and take down photos. Hand the group to someone else when you pass it on; you stay a co-leader.
- 📣 Announcements go to every family in the group (a notification, and at the top of the group). Leaders see 👀 Seen by 8 of 12.
- 🖨️ Print the roster: families, kids, parents, and the phones families chose to share with the group.
- 📸 Photos: any family in the group can add photos to the group’s album; only the group sees them. Parents can tick No photos of our kids in this group’s album (under ⚙️ Group settings), and everyone sees “🙈 No photos please: Max” before posting.
- ↔️ Wrong class? On the class list, tap ↔️ next to a family, pick the right class, and tap Move. They move with the same kids and get a notification. You need to be a leader of both classes.
- 📅 Meetings: tap + Add something → 📅 Meeting (or + Add a meeting once you have one) (every week, every other week, or just once). It goes on every family’s calendar for the kids they have in the group, and on their phone calendar if they follow it, with a reminder about 3 hours before. Cancel this date tells every family and takes it off their calendars; Put it back on undoes it.
- ✅ Attendance: in Organizer tools, pick a meeting, tap the kids who came and Save attendance. Totals so far shows how many meetings each kid came to. Only leaders see it.
- 📝 To do (permission slips, dues, forms): each family taps Done. Leaders see “8 of 12 families done” and who’s left, can Mark done for a family (dues paid in cash), and ⏰ Remind the rest (just the families who haven’t, at most twice a day).
- 🙋 Sign-ups (snacks, drivers, chaperones): make a list, one spot per line. Families tap I’ll do it; one family per spot. They can Give back a spot, and leaders can clear one.
- New group kinds: 🌼 Scouts, 🎭 Club / activity and ⛪ Faith group.
🤝 Trusted families
Your go-to families: neighbors, or the family whose kid is at gymnastics with yours. 👪 Family & people → 🤝 Trusted families → + Add a trusted family.
- You both agree. They’re asked to trust you back. Once you both say yes, you can ask each other for rides, drop-offs and pickups.
- It’s just between the two of you. Nobody sees who else you trust: not other families, not classes or groups. The labels you add (🏡 Neighbor, ⚽ Sports…) are only for you.
- Shared activities: tap 🔗 Shared activities & labels and pick the activities your kids do together (from 📅 This week). They see the day, time and place. When you ask for a ride to one, they’re asked first.
- Each trusted family shows how often you’ve helped each other. After a family helps you, we’ll suggest adding them.
- Remove any time. They aren’t told.
💛 Ask for help: a ride, someone to watch your kid, or a pickup
☰ (top left) → 💛 Ask for help (or 💛 Ask them on a trusted family). Pick what you need:
- 🚗 Ride along: “Is it possible for Ella to ride with you to Gymnastics?” Pick the activity and the day, time and place fill in.
- 🏡 Can you watch them? “Is it possible for you to watch Ella?” Pick the day and the times (from 9 AM until 3 PM, say). It’s at their house unless you say where.
- 📅 On your calendar: once someone says yes, it goes on both families’ calendars (“🏡 Watching Ava” for them, “🏡 Ava at the Millers’” for you), on Today under Today, and in your phone’s calendar. The family helping gets a reminder an hour before. It’s also in 📅 Calendar → 🎉 Invites & plans → 💛 Rides, pickups & sitting. If it’s canceled, it comes off.
- 🏫 Pick up: “Is it possible for you to pick up Ella?” from school or practice.
It goes to your trusted families (or all your families, or just the ones you pick), up to two weeks ahead. They can say 💛 Yes, happy to help or Sorry, not this time, with no pressure. The first yes has it, you get their name and number, and everyone else hears it’s all set. If everyone says sorry, tap 💛 Ask more families.
The family helping sees your number, your kids’ allergies and your emergency contacts, and taps ✅ Dropped off, ✅ They’re here or ✅ Picked up. Sorted it out yourself? Tap Never mind and we’ll let them know.
🧒 Kid mode: hand your kid the phone
Kids tab → pick your child → 📲 Open (their name)’s Kid Mode at the top (or ☰ → 📲 Kid Mode, which opens Who’s playing?) and hand over your phone. The first time, you pick a 4-digit grown-up code on that phone. To get back out, tap 🔒 Grown-ups and type it. Your kids can’t answer reward requests, change settings or read your messages without it. Forgot the code? Use your password lets you pick a new one.
- Their screen has four big buttons: 📋 My Day, 📚 Learning (homework first, then practice, reading and 🦉 Hoot), 🎮 Fun (the Game Room) and 🌈 their World (photos, Kind Words, Best Part, 🍎 Food and messages). ‹ Back goes to the screen they came from; 🔄 Switch child changes who’s using it. It’s the same home screen on your phone, their own iPad or phone and the shared kids’ iPad, whether or not you’ve connected with other families.
- To get out, tap 🔒 Grown-ups and type your code. Forgot it? Use your password instead.
Kid mode is a friendly lock, not a security lock. It stays on if the app is closed and reopened.
📅 The week: activities and groceries
📅 Calendar → Week shows Monday to Sunday: each kid’s activities, parties, asks for help, birthdays and your own events. Nights with something at dinnertime, or two or more things, get a 🏃 Busy night tag.
- 👟 After-school activities: add soccer, piano, dance… once. Pick who goes, the days and times, and where. They repeat every week, and show in your family calendar and phone calendar too.
- 🛒 Grocery list (☰ at the top left, or in the Calendar’s week): one quick list your whole family shares. Type several things at once (“milk, eggs, bread”), and tap to check them off at the store. 💬 Text it to Alex (your partner, if they added a phone number) opens a text with the list filled in; 💬 Text it to someone else lets you pick anyone from your contacts (it ends with “Reply with anything you need!”). KiddoCue never sees your contacts. Going to the store? 🔔 Ask Alex what to add sends them a notification, and you get one each time she adds something while you’re out.
- Everyone in your household sees and edits the same week. On Home, Today shows what’s on.
📷 Snap a schedule or appointment card
At the pediatrician, dentist or barber? Snap the appointment card before you leave. KiddoCue fills in the day, time, place and what it is (🩺 checkup, 🦷 dentist, 💇 haircut), and ticks the kid if the card has their name. Check it and tap Add.
📅 Calendar → 📷 Snap a schedule (or + Add → 📷 Snap a schedule). Take a photo, a screenshot of your team app’s schedule or the paper one, or pick a PDF from the league’s email. In about 30 seconds you’ll see every game and practice it found.
- Check it against the schedule. Fix a date or time right in the list, or untick anything you don’t want. Dates that already passed start unticked.
- Pick who it’s for (like Jack), a reminder, and tap Add to our calendar. Your partner gets a heads-up.
- Made a mistake? Open any of the games and tap Delete all from “Tigers 10U Baseball”.
- The photo is read by Anthropic’s Claude, only to find the schedule, and isn’t kept by KiddoCue. Up to 20 schedules per family a month.
🔗 Follow a team or school calendar (updates by itself)
Most team apps and many schools have a calendar link:
- A team app: in the team’s settings, look for Sync to calendar, Subscribe, Export calendar or iCal.
- A school: on the school or district website’s calendar page (or the school’s app), look for Subscribe, iCal, ICS or Add to calendar. Schools on Google Calendar have a public address in iCal format.
Copy the link (it usually starts with webcal:// or https://). Then 📅 Calendar → 🔗 Team & school calendars (or + Add → Or follow a team or school calendar link), pick ⚽ A team or 🏫 A school, paste it, and pick which kids and a reminder.
- KiddoCue checks it every few hours, so new games, half days, no-school days, time changes and cancellations show up by themselves.
- If something in the next two weeks moves, changes place or is canceled, you get a notification.
- 🔄 Update now checks right away. Stop following takes its events off your calendar.
- The link and the events are only for your family.
📱 Your kid’s own iPad or phone
Wi-Fi only is fine. No code: on the kid’s device, open kiddocue.com or the KiddoCue app, sign in as yourself, then tap Family → 📱 Kids’ own iPads & phones → 📲 This is Ella’s. You’re signed out there, and it opens straight to Ella’s KiddoCue from then on.
With a code (for a device that isn’t in your hand): on your phone, tap + Code for Ella’s in the same place. On the kid’s device, tap 🧒 This is my child’s iPad or phone and type the code (or scan the QR code). The code works once, for 15 minutes.
- The device is signed in as that kid only. They see kid mode, 🎲 games with their own family, their favorite foods and 💬 messages. Nothing else in KiddoCue, and no email or password to remember.
- 💬 Messages: turn on messages in the same card. Kids can message you, their brothers and sisters, and kids in 🤝 trusted families who turned it on too, with ready-made phrases like “Want to hang out? 🎲”. Tick ✏️ Let them type their own messages to let them write (with friends, that family has to allow it too). Phone numbers, addresses, emails, links, other apps and bad words are blocked. Tap 💬 Message Ella to write to her, and 👀 Read Ella’s messages to see all of them.
- Sign it out from your phone any time. The 🔒 Grown-ups button on the kid’s device just explains how.
🎲 Games
☰ → 🎮 Games & puzzles → 🎲 Games. Turn on games and pick which ones your kids may play: tic-tac-toe, connect four, checkers and ♟️ chess.
- Games are just for your own family: kids play from 🧒 kid mode (🎲 Games, or Play with family in the 🎮 Game Room) with a brother or sister, with you, or with the 🤖 KiddoCue Bot. They can’t play kids in other families.
- 🏠 On one phone: the screen says whose turn it is, so just pass the phone.
- 📱 Kid on their own phone, you on yours: when your kid starts a game with you, you get a notification. Tap it, or open ☰ → 🎮 Games & puzzles → 🎲 Games → 🎲 Your turn!, to play your side. You’re told when it’s your turn again.
- 🏳️ End a game early: kids tap End game on the board; grown-ups can also end any game in ☰ → 🎮 Games & puzzles → 🎲 Games.
- There’s no typing: kids can only send ready-made reactions like 👏 or “Good game!”.
- Games are turn by turn, so kids can play together at the same time or over a few days.
✖️ Canceling (and saying why)
When you cancel a hangout, a ride you asked for, or a ride you said you’d give, KiddoCue asks why: 🤒 someone’s sick, 📅 plans changed, 👍 got it covered, or something else, plus an optional note. The other family sees it in the notification, so nobody has to text back and forth. You can skip the reason too.
💊 Medicine reminders
☰ (top left) → 💊 Medicine → + Add a medicine. Pick who it’s for (a kid or a parent), the medicine, how much and a note if you like (“with food”), the times (8 AM and 8 PM), which days, and for how long: a set number of days (a 10-day antibiotic), until a date, or ongoing.
- At each dose time everyone in your household get a notification. Whoever gives it taps ✅ Given, and the other parent is told “✓ Alex gave Ella her amoxicillin”. If someone already gave it, KiddoCue says so, so nobody doubles up.
- On a computer or Android, ✅ Given is right on the notification. On iPhone, tap the notification and it opens with the ✅ Given button.
- Nobody marked it within 30 minutes? You both get one more nudge. Medicine reminders come even during quiet hours.
- Home shows 💊 Medicine today: what’s given (by whom, when) and what’s still to go. ✅ Given shows up an hour before each dose, so the evening dose can’t be ticked at breakfast by mistake. Undo fixes a wrong tap.
- Ticked it off later than you gave it? Tap ✏️ Change time under “Given by…” and put in the real time (say 7:00 AM). The other parent is told, so you both know when the next dose can be given.
- Don’t need it up front? Tap Hide ▴ and it folds down to one line (“💊 Medicine today · 1 to go”). Show ▾ opens it again. You still get the reminders.
- Each medicine keeps the last 7 days, handy if the doctor asks. When a course ends, you both get “done”, and the reminders stop.
Only your family sees medicines. They’re never shared with other families. KiddoCue helps you coordinate and reduce missed or double doses, but it can’t guarantee them: always follow your doctor’s or pharmacist’s directions.
🍎 School menu: what’s for lunch, and who needs a home lunch
☰ → 🏫 School → 🍎 School menu.
- Add the menu once a month, whichever way is easiest: 🔗 Paste a link to the menu on the school’s website (copy it from the address bar; a PDF link works best), a 📷 Photo or PDF of the breakfast and lunch menu, or 📋 Paste the text from the school’s email or website. Check a few days, pick who eats at that school, and tap Save the menu. Kids at different schools? Add each school’s menu.
- 🤝 Share it with the class: when you save the menu, tick your kid’s class (it’s ticked for you). Every family in that class gets the menu on KiddoCue automatically, including families who join later, and only one parent has to add it each month. They see just the menu; who won’t eat what stays with each family.
- Who won’t eat what: tap a kid on each food they won’t eat (👎). “Pizza” covers every pizza on the menu. You only do this once; new foods on next month’s menu show up marked New.
- That’s it. Each school day says 👍 School or 🥪 Home lunch for each kid. When there’s a choice of lunches, one they’ll eat is enough. Tap any day to switch it (“Ella is trying the pizza”).
Home’s 📅 Today card shows today’s lunch (tomorrow’s after 3 PM, Monday’s over the weekend). The evening before a home lunch day you get one notification. 🛒 Add home lunches to the grocery list adds the week’s home lunches. No-school days on the menu, and your class’s days off, need no lunch.
Only your family sees this. The menu is read by Anthropic’s Claude and isn’t kept by KiddoCue.
📋 Caregiver notes for a sitter or grandparent
☰ (top left) → 📋 Caregiver notes (it used to be called Care Instructions). Save what someone watching your kids needs to know, once, and keep it up to date:
- 🧒 Each child: routine, meals, bedtime, what helps when they’re upset, house rules and what to do in an emergency. Allergies and medicine you already saved show up for you.
- 🐾 Pets and 🏠 your home (plants, trash day, Wi-Fi). Door, alarm and spare key codes are kept apart.
- ☎️ Who to call: parents and your emergency contacts are added for you; add grandparents or neighbors.
Before a night out or a trip, tap 🖨️ Create care sheet, pick who’s being watched (and tick door and alarm codes if you want them on it), preview it, then print it or tap 🔗 Share a link instead. The link works on any phone with no app, ends on its own after 1 to 30 days, and you can turn it off any time.
Grown-ups in your family all see the same notes. There are no separate sitter accounts: the share link is how a sitter sees them.
✅ The family to-do list
☰ (top left) → ✅ Tasks → ✅ To-dos. Errands, calls and things to fix that everyone in your household shares. Add several at once (“dry cleaning, oil change”), pick who it’s for (they get a notification), check things off, and text the list to anyone. Only your family sees it.
🏫 Half days and days off (and who can watch the kids)
Open your class → + Add something → 🏫 Day off (or + Add under 🏫 Half days & days off once there’s one). Pick half day (and when school lets out) or no school. It goes on the calendar of every family in the class, and they get a heads-up.
- Working that day? The evening before, you’ll get “Need someone to watch Ella?”. Tap the day on Today and 💛 Need someone to watch the kids? asks your trusted families with the kind drop-off ask.
- Home that day? Tap 🙋 We’re home: we can host kids, and say until when and how many. Your trusted families and the classes you pick see it and can ask you. You can take it back any time.
- Only families in that class see its days off. The family who added one, or the class organizer, can remove it.
🔒 Who can see what

|---|---|
| Kids’ names & avatars | Your family, connected families, and the classes/groups you put them in |
| Kid photos | Your family and connected families |
| Kids’ birthdays | Your family and connected families; a class only if you turn it on for that class (month and day) |
| ⚠️ Allergies & medical | Only the family who has your kid: a family deciding on your hangout request, the hangout host, or a party host after you RSVP going/maybe. Never your whole list, never a class, never in notifications, chats or calendars |
| 🆘 Emergency contacts | Only the family who has your kids, from 3 hours before until 3 hours after the hangout or party, and the family helping with your kids when you ask for a ride, drop-off or pickup |
| 📱 Your phone | The other family on a hangout with you, and the host or families coming to a party with you (Call/Text buttons). A class only if you turn it on. You can hide it completely |
| 📧 Your email | Nobody. Only used to send you a reset link |
| 📷 Hangout photos | The parents of the two families on that hangout |
| 🎈 Invites | The host and invited families (guests don’t see the guest list) |
| 💬 Messages | The families in that chat |
| 👟 After-school activities & grocery list | Your family only |
| 📅 Calendar link | Anyone you give it to, so keep it private (you can reset it) |
| 📍 Location (weather) | Stays on your phone; only a rounded version goes to the weather service. Our server never sees it |

👪 Family & people → bottom → Delete account (needs your password). Choose just your login (if another parent stays) or your whole family: kids, photos, posts, invites and messages. Hangouts you had with another family stay in their history, but your photos are removed. This can’t be undone.
Block a family, or report a problem
Tap 🚩 next to a family (👪 Family & people → Other families, a class list, or Chat options). To report one message, tap it in the chat. To report a photo, open it and tap 🚩 Report.
- Report: pick what’s wrong and send it. It goes to the KiddoCue team, not to the other family, and includes the message or photo you reported.
- Block: disconnects you. They can’t reconnect, ask to connect, message you, invite your kids or see your class posts, and you won’t see theirs or their messages in class chats. They aren’t told.
- Unblock: ⚙️ Settings → 🚫 Blocked families. It doesn’t reconnect you.
If a child is in danger, call 911 first.
Download our family’s data
⚙️ Settings → 📦 Your family’s data → Download our data. You get one file with your family, kids, posts, hangouts, invites and messages. It never includes passwords or other families’ private details.
❓ Common questions
Why don’t I get notifications on my iPhone?
- Add KiddoCue to your Home Screen (see above) and open it from there, not from Safari.
- ⚙️ Settings → Notifications → Turn on, and allow.
- Check iPhone Settings → Notifications → KiddoCue is on, and Focus / Do Not Disturb isn’t blocking it.
- Check your KiddoCue quiet hours.
Why did I have to log in again on the Home Screen app?
iPhone keeps Home Screen apps separate from Safari, so you log in once more there. After that it remembers you.
My calendar isn’t showing the latest hangouts
Calendars check for changes on their own schedule: Apple about every hour, Google every few hours. On iPhone you can speed it up in Settings → Calendar → Accounts → Fetch New Data. If you reset your calendar link, add it again.
I can’t see a family’s posts
You need to be connected (or in a class together, for class posts). Check 👪 Family & people → Other families. They may have sent the post only to certain families, or it may have ended.
A family left (or was removed from) my class group
They no longer see the class list, class posts or the class chat. If you’re connected with them directly, that connection stays.
The app looks old after an update
Close KiddoCue completely (swipe it away) and open it again.
